A Broken Heart after A Tragedy

Long line: After the unexpected passing of her fiancé, Natalie finds it extremely difficult to get rid of two of his belongings, a beach ball containing his last breaths and a heart pendant.

Story: We are introduced to a young girl in her mid twenties who is just waking up. She appears to be unhappy and it’s only after she inhales air from a beach ball, which is lying next to her, that she gets the confidence to face the world. She travels to the beach and is enjoying the scenery but suddenly she is reminded of something she once had. In this brief thought, we see her skipping rocks and holding half a heart pendant. She finds it difficult to throw the heart into the water and continues to hold on to it. Time begins to move forward at an increasable pace and before she knows it darkness begins to surround her and she begins to feel depressed. She quickly makes it back home and inhales a large amount of air from the beach ball and like a hit from a powerful drug she passes out. In her dream she is running towards something with a sense of urgency, a man appears to be holding the other half of the heart pendant. It swings side to side like a pendulum clock and when she confronts him she awakens. She begins to gather personal belongings and pulls out a white box from a dresser. The box is placed dead center on a table and through a flash back we see her at an earlier time. She extremely depressed and burning the belongings of a man. She looks at a photo before she tosses into the fire and is reminded of the beach ball he once filled up before they went to the beach. We flash forward and she is seen walking towards a grave yard. She places the deflated beach ball and in front of headstone along with half a heart pendant. Next to her is the box that we were introduced to earlier, she opens it up and in it is the other half of the heart pendant. She connects both pendants and walks away from the headstones as sign that she is ready to move on with her life.

Recommendation made in class:
  • Trim down the length of the video.
  • Instead of the slider going from left to right and right to left have it go from left to right by flipping horizontally the second clip.
  • Make the dream sequence for dream like.
